My company said this because I got sick…
For a bit of context, I was working on a skilled worker visa in a very toxic company. Recently I switched my visa to spouse visa (my husband is English) and I handled my notice. My employer didn’t like it, they offered me things asking for me to stay until at least June. I rejected. Then I got sick and couldn’t go to work for 3 and a half days one week. I got a bit better, worked two days the next week and fell sick again, missing two more days of work. Next thing to happen, one of the managers sent me this email during my day off. Is this even reasonable/legal?
I know they are only saying this because I handled my notice. Also the company has a policy that says if you have a temperature you cannot attend during the next 48hrs. I had a temperature at 3am and immediately messaged them to let them know (I was supposed to start at 7.30am). How do they expect me to let them know by 3pm that I won’t be able to work next day if by then I didn’t have a temperature?
Anyway is it legal to threaten about the references? I only missed 5days and a half in a period of two weeks due to being sick -for real. I worked at the company for 20months and I’ve been sick a total of 4 times in all that time.
