Been terminated at my job today, through a dreaded email, gutted and need advice.

23M

I started this job in November and was hired by an old centre manager who gave me the job on the spot, Unfortunately he left at the end of that month and now a new manager has now come in and mostly nobody likes him at all.

He’s completely changed everything at the workplace, from removing all chairs downstairs, even the ones that were used my customers and parents to sit down, and including the one on reception because it promotes ‘laziness’ so the receptionist has to stand on their feet all day, to telling one of my assistant managers who was essentially pushed out of my work at the end of December: ‘Oh I can’t wait for you to leave so we can get someone else new in’

Anyway, I was alerted to an email notification today that I have been terminated from my job, and it is the only job I have at the moment to sustain myself to navigate this very difficult job market we have in the UK, having recently completing a masters in Cybercrime, Terrorism and Security. The job is something that I am doing only part time whilst looking for a professional job in my discipline(s).

In the contract of employment it did not mention anything relating to or specifically the word ‘probation’ or ‘probationary period’ whatsoever.

I was at a training shift yesterday and I shook hands with the Duty manager, and I got him to confirm that I was there, but he said he has not an idea or a clue why he did it or what’s going on.

And now yesterday, there been changes made that you can’t pick your own shifts to pick up anymore on Workforce, he’s now allocating certain areas in a job to the people best at the position.

Bear in mind, this centre manager had also cut a lot of my hours of my shifts in the final week before Christmas’s, in total, about 20 hours in that week. Although I am aware that it is zero hours.

Just need some advice on what to do, how to navigate, what to say and where to go from here, as it is very unexpected.
