Worth leaving job to do an apprenticeship?
At the moment I’m on about £37k, and work in a fairly stable public health role. I enjoy my job, work from home whenever I like, fairly low stress and I feel the work I do is meaningful.
I’ve always been interested in engineering though, and have an interview coming up for an engineering apprenticeship that would give me a level 4 qualification. It would involve moving myself and family to the other side of the country, and the starting salary would be about £28k, increasing to mid £40k (maybe more by then) after 2 years. I think it will be a hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office but doesn’t bother me much, as I would have to move to the area anyway.
One big downside is having to move my daughter out of her new school that she started last September, and have things up in the air for a while. Finding somewhere to rent on the lower salary might be a bit more challenging too.
Just curious on what other people would do in this situation if they were successful at the interview?
