I Owe HMRC £2151.60 and am unsure why

Hello all,

I’ve recently received a letter from HMRC stating that I owe £2151.60 for the tax year 2023-2024

I’m just unsure how I am responsible for this as I started a new job I. December and according to my payslips I wasn’t charged tax during the time until April 2024 which then I was taxed.

I worked for a company before this and was paying tax once I was over my allowance then once I changed to my new job I completed a “starter checklist” and this was sent to HMRC as I was told but yet I still wasn’t charged tax.

Any advice on what to do as it doesn’t seem right that I’m being told to pay this when it wasn’t my fault that my company wasn’t paying the tax.

I’m on paye aswell so no self employment etc
