Why do people use modded versions of WhatsApp?

This ain't directed to someone but I feel it's stupid and weird for people to use WhatsApp mods i.e GB Whatsapp, Fm WhatsApp, Whatsapp plus and so on. For example, someone decides to hide his 'view status ' feature and the same person still comments or replies to your status. I got some joy lately when all mods stopped working but I think their engineers have found a way out still to get them work again.

I don't know if anyone also feels the same..?
