Transferring from GMU to VT

I hope you all are doing well, I recently received an update from Virginia Tech regarding my waitlist status for their engineering program. Unfortunately, they have confirmed that they do not have any available space for this year. As a result, I am seeking advice on alternative pathways to achieve my goal of pursuing a degree in engineering at Virginia Tech. Is it true that if you attend a community college it can guarantee a transfer admission to Virginia Tech (IDK if it is true). Specifically, I am interested in understanding the process for transferring to an engineering program to VT. If I were to attend a community college, what would be the necessary steps, courses, and credits required to facilitate a smooth transfer to an engineering program at a VT?

Additionally, I am considering George Mason University as an option. Could you please provide detailed information on the transfer process to their engineering program? Specifically, I would like to know what the requirements are for transferring after one year, including the necessary classes, credit hours, and any other relevant criteria if you know any.

For GMU, if anybody can explains step to step I would really appreciate it.
