What are your thoughts on rents paid to policeman, firefighters etc.?

What will happen to them if or when current system and currency fails? Obviously they will not be paid anymore with dollars or they will but those dollars will have no purchasing power, but do you think those professions will always have that type of benefit? Will there be like a new type of rent in new currency system or some other benefit? Or will these professions just get screwed and never seen any benefits again? Lets say you are a 50 years old retired policeman or firefighter or something like that where you have rights to collect rent, you just worked for 30 years in that job, all of a suddenly you go for retirement and current financial system collapse, will there be some benefits for you for those 30 years of your life in that career or they will just say f*ck you?
