Gallery app taking up space

This is about the gallery app taking too much storage. I use a Xiaomi Redmi note 13 pro plus.

I currently have around 8200 photos and 200 videos (all around 10 seconds video). On the "about the phone" page on settings, it tells me that images take up around 25 GB of storage which seems reasonable to me for having 8000 photos.

However, when I see the apps and data part, I see that the gallery app is taking up 103GB of storage. I do not understand why this is the case. Does anyone know the problem?
