Exercise is MUCH easier when you're thinner....
My whole life, I've heard judgmental thin people say "you just need to exercise." And then they never seem to understand that it's HARD to exercise when you're very overweight. I internalized that myself and always just felt like I was lazy, even though I'd try to get in shape and never felt I could...
Well, now I weigh 162 lbs. My highest weigh was 292 back in 2020. I did a keto diet and got down to 230, but then my weight just stuck there no matter what and started to barely creep up. At that point, I knew what would happen next--obesity is a disease and you find your way back to your "set weight." So, rather than seeing 2-3 lbs creep on a month for the next year, I instead decided to try Zepbound. I started in 11/23 at 239 lbs and today am at 162 lbs.
I've always done a decent amount of walking (even when heavy), but it is MUCH easier now to move my body. My goal for 2025 is to focus on physical exercise because it feels possible now, in a way it never did before. I can run up and down multiple flights of stairs or run 2-3 blocks without feeling like I'll die. I feel "able-bodied" if that makes sense....
Anyway, I suppose this is a "i told ya so" in my head to all those people over the years who made me feel lazy. Of COURSE it's very hard to work out when you're very obese--how would they do if they put a 100 lb backpack on and then carried it around 24/7, and then tried to do crunches or run a mile.... sigh
So, exercise is MUCH easier when you're thinner. It doesn't mean that we are automatically "in shape" - I still can't run a mile and I need to do a LOT of strength training. But it's possible now, in a way that never felt so before.
