Feyre's Character Development

Spoilers ahead so don't read if you've not read the first three books.

I'm on my second read through. Well, the first time i listened to the series on Audible and then I treated myself to the box set as I always prefer physically reading books and figured I'd notice more if I read them.

Which I have done. Enjoying it heaps more this time around.

But, I've just started WAR and I'm just annoyed with Feyre. I love her, don't get me wrong and I especially love her in ACOTAR and up to her mating with Rhys... but man, does anyone else just get really annoyed with how her character suddenly changes once she accepts the mating bond?!

I feel like it jumped from this girl who was going through all this growth and learning all these amazing new skills which I was loving... to suddenly High Lady of the Night Court and this better than everyone (outside of the IC and Valaris) attitude. It kinda makes me cringe a bit.

I feel a bit robbed of her growth which was going so well. Like, her accepting the mating bond with Rhys made her level up multiple levels without having to actually go through them. She's sooooo young... and there was so much potential and now suddenly she's this HL.

I know it's just a story and I do mostly read it just for enjoyment and adventure and all of that but sometimes... I just wish we got a little more of Feyre developing as Feyre, without this mating bond almost saving her.

It also makes me struggle to believe the fist half of WAR when she infiltrates the Spring Court. Her character change, even though she told us she was acting as she used to, there was still too much of confident Feyre coming through for me to believe no one saw the shift. Especially Lucien who was already wary of her.

So yeah, I've basically got no one in my life to talk to this about so here I am, having a little moment 😂
