Is Amex Gold worth it living in Europe?

Does anyone who lives in Europe (and maybe specifically the Netherlands) and only travels for leisure find that the Amex Gold has been worth it? I shop and eat out quite often, and take 2-3 big trips a year, including long flights to North America and Asia. Since moving to europe a few years ago, I've just been using my debit card or a zero cash/points back credit card because I haven't found that the credit card culture is big here, and many places don't take amex. But at my spending rate, I do want to start earning back some of it and/or getting travel perks.

I've been doing some research on the Amex and it feels like the dutch version of the Gold card has less perks compared to North American credit cards. The Platinum card sounds nice but for someone who doesn't travel for work, it seems unrealistic. I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts or experiences about wether the European version of the Gold card is worth it here? There isn't even a sign up bonus right now but I'm planning to book some big trips soon so I'm conflicted. Thanks in advance!
