BB Barns Fires All Long-Time Employees WTF
I just found out from a friend, whose friend was impacted by this, that the owners of BB Barns let go of all the employees that make the garden center so special.
You know the ones, the people who actually know how to take care of plants and help them thrive, the ones that would tell you exactly what you needed to get and do to make sure your plants stay alive. Yeah, they are all gone. Replaced by noobs for less pay.
The only long time employee that got to stay on staff (or so I heard) was high up managerial, who got demoted to cashier, and the person who took their place in management is someone they trained, who surprise surprise quit after a week because they didn't know what they were doing. Everyone else was let go in the middle of the work day, effective immediately, and with a sh*tty severance for 5-10+ years of loyalty.
Now I know BB Barns is a pricey place, but I was always told that it was the best place in AVL to get plants despite the price because of the expertise of the employees and how they treat the plants in their care (not overwatering like most big box stores etc). Now that that is gone guess we are better off going to Lowes or Home Depot, at least the "expertise" is the same level. So much for supporting a family owned, community based company.
