Does PlayStation pay the money back after you cancel a subscription?

I subscribed to playstation plus, a three month subscription for my son but then afterwards we decided to cancel it as he received games (the discs) as a gift. I've read the policy which says they refund after 14 days. But as this is his first PS will they refund the money?
