Car broke 11 months after buying it. Purchased on Finance
Hi guys, I live in the UK. I purchased a car in December 2017 as my car at the time was constantly having problems. I ended up purchasing a 14 plate 1.0L Ford fiesta Ecoboost, it was £6700 outright but ended up costing me £10,700 on finance. The company I purchased from was Evans Halshaw. Somehow the price on the finance was £167 a month which wasn’t affordable at the time so I had to take off the warranty which took payments to £150 a month for 60 months. The car was completely broke by November 2018 and needed a whole new engine. Ford refused to do anything about this as they said I cancelled my warranty and it has been over 3 months since the purchase, but I’ve just gone into my emails and found an email saying I had £15,000 cover for 36 months. I ended up going to the ombudsman and ended up losing the case as no evidence of a damaged engine was present when purchasing the car. I had to take out a loan of £8400 to pay off the remaining finance and sold the car for £1500.
What I want to know is, is there anything I can do about this situation now as so much time has passed? I still haven’t recovered financially from this as I’m still paying off that loan and I keep getting setbacks. I only looked into this whole situation as I keep seeing adverts about being oversold some sort of finance and I could be eligible to claim some of the costs back. I’m not sure if I’m posting this in the right group but hopefully someone here can help me!
Thanks!
