Any idea what this is?

Found it amongst some railroad ballast a couple years ago and have been curious about it ever since, figured this was the perfect place to find out! Its a mostly while stone with small fragments of shiny crystal that resembles clear quarts, and also chunks of what almost looks like some type of metal within the rock.
