Central townhouse in Auckland for under $1 million?

Me and my partner are wanting to buy a two bedroom house/townhouse for a million or less (ideally). We could stretch our budget higher if absolutely necessary.

The catch is we work in the CBD, so we are only really interested in areas with a 45 min or less commute to downtown - ideally by public transport. It is also a priority that we buy somewhere where we feel safe. Are we being unrealistic with our goals?

What suburbs would you recommend we consider? We aren’t from Auckland so we are not very familiar with suburbs other than the ones we have lived in.
