Why isn't there more appetite to move away from the major parties?
I have been reading on here for a while now. With an upcoming election, I have noticed a massive uptick in political posts. Often times these are quite partisan to the major parties. The most common line I have seen is encouraging for people to vote Labor because they are "less bad".
As a country with a preferential voting system, I really struggle to see how this is a valid way to think about moving forward as a nation polically. Right now our economy is in it's worst shape since the early 1990s. (Source). We have a weak Aussie dollar, overinflated property prices, poor private sector growth (Source) and falling GDP per capita.
Despite this, there is lierally no visible path forwards from this economic rut we are in with the current polical status quo in terms of policy.
Given this, surely we are at the perfect time to increase the diversity of views inside parliment. I am not advocating for a specific view, but rather to increase the total amount of non-major parties and indiependants from all sides of politics.
Surely this is better than completly being taken advantage of as citizens, though partisan support of hopeless policies that just sail through parliment unchecked in a majority goverment,
Surely I cannot be the only one who thinks this way?
