If baseballs were sentient, would getting hit make them feel pain or that they fulfilled their purpose?

Just think about it: Baseballs are purposefully created to be used in this game. They do not have any functionality as food or any other productive usecase. They serve no other purpose than to be thrown and hit.

That being said, if they were sentient, would they feel pain when being smacked by a wooden bat at 65+ mph or would they feel that they are fulfilling their destiny? Would they feel a sense of relief that they did their job well?
