How do you deal with a depressive episode?
I was hypomanic for around eight years. In 2023 I was full blown manic. And now I have been in a depressive episode.
It was pretty severe last fall. I was put on an antidepressant which helped me have the energy to workout. I began running again and it pulled me out of the depressive episode.
Now the depressive episode is returning. I wake up at 4 AM and run five or more miles six days a week. This gives me a lot of relief. Then around 11 - 1 I start going into a depressive episode again.
I was hypomanic for so long I understand this could easily go on for 2 - 5 years. I had to go to class today and I ran another mile with my dog. I'm about to go to the pool and swim a mile. I cycle 3 or so times a week and I lift two times a week. This amount of exercise may seem excessive. I wouldn't do quite as much but it literally allows me to be able to go to class or complete work assignments.
I'm simply looking for advice to treat this depressive episode. And also any feedback on how long it can last.
