Living check to check

I’m a 20 year old college student who wants to learn more about personal finance. My major is computer science. I’m learning about investing my money, saving my money and creating budgets for spending my money. Unfortunately, I fucked up my credit score because I signed a lease to an apartment during my 1st semester of college and I couldn’t get out of the lease. I couldn’t move into the apartment due to personal circumstances and they reported me to the collections agency. Aside from that, I haven’t made any huge financial mistakes.

When I get a stable job, I want to live a very moderate lifestyle. All I need is a safe place to sleep, a reliable car(SUV or Sedan), and enough money to buy some groceries. I don’t need fancy cars, I don’t need designer shit, and I don’t need to travel. I don’t care about flexing on niggas 🤷🏾‍♂️.

But despite me wanting to live a simple life, I’m still worried about living from check to check. The majority of Americans hate their jobs and they live from check to check, so I feel like the odds are stacked against me.

What is your experience with living check to check? Will this be my reality after college?
