What are you predictions for Trump's second term?

Based on my experience on this platform, I assume most people here opposed Trump, while the rest are either disengaged from politics or supported him.

Personally, I lean toward alarmism because I’m in disbelief at how many Americans seem to have forgotten how disastrous Trump’s presidency was—whether as an administrator, manager, or leader. Four years isn’t that long ago.

Below are my predictions for what I think could happen in the next four years if Trump returns to office. Many of these are based on things he has already said or done:

Domestic Policies:

  • Policies favoring the wealthy: Trump will continue to push policies that benefit wealthy Americans, much like he did during his first term.
  • Frequent lying: Expect a constant stream of falsehoods about objective reality.
  • Vacant Government Positions: Trump didn't appoint many ambassadors last time he was in office. I doubt he will care to do so again.
  • Very little legislative accomplishments: Trump couldn't get much done even with a Republican majority last time.
  • Dysfunctional administration: His administration is likely to remain chaotic, given that his first term had the highest turnover in modern U.S. history.
  • Counterproductive tariffs: Tariff policies that harm the economy are likely to make a return.
  • Deportations for show: While deportations will increase, much of it will be symbolic. Notably, Trump deported fewer people than Obama and Biden.
  • Use of the military against civilians: He could again attempt to deploy the U.S. military domestically in ways that push constitutional boundaries. Remember, he send troops to the Mexican border against an imaginary caravan before the 2018 mid-term election.
  • Weaponization of federal agencies: The FBI and Department of Justice may be used to target political enemies.
  • Pardoning January 6th rioters: Pardons for those involved in the Capitol riot are a real possibility.
  • Scheming to extend his tenure: Trump has shown little regard for the Constitution and could attempt to find a way to stay in office beyond two terms.

Foreign Policies:

  • Increased military conflicts: I foresee a heightened risk of military conflict, likely with Iran, North Korea, or another adversary. During his first term, we came closer to war with North Korea than most people realize.
  • Operations in Mexico: Military operations against drug cartels in Mexico are a possibility.
  • Appeasement of dictators: Expect continued admiration and deference to authoritarian leaders, as we saw previously.
  • Increased drone strikes: Trump authorized more drone strikes in four years than Obama did in eight, and this trend could escalate.
  • Withdrawal from NATO: A U.S. withdrawal from NATO is within the realm of possibility.

These are, of course, predictions—no one has a crystal ball. But if his first term is any indication, the next one could be far worse.
