Bonnaroo Survey 2024 - Something to consider

It's that time of year again, the post-Bonnaroo survey! Time for your voice to be heard! Every year, there's a section that asks "who are some artists you would like to see next year." Now its at this point in the survey, I'm going to to need you to HOLD YOUR HORSES!! I understand it is very tempting to start listing all your favorite bands because WOW IT WOULD BE SO CONVENIENT TO SEE ALL MY FAVORITE ARTISTS IN THE SAME WEEKEND AT MY FAVORITE PLACE!!!!!!!!!!11 But this is Bonnaroo we are talking about. They have pull. They have name recognition. And most importantly, they have that sweet sweet Livenation cashola! So before you start listing artists that regularly tour the USA ever year, here are a few types of acts to consider:
1. Legacy Acts - There seems to have been a steep drop off of Roo booking the seasoned pros. Some of my most magical moments on the farm were catching older bands I wouldn't normally shell out money to see. From Robert Plant, to John Prine, to Earth, Wind, and Fire. And who could forget Sir Paul?? So who we thinking for next year? Could you get down to some Hall & Oates? How about Neil Young? Perhaps swing for the fences and see if Roger Waters will still be at it next year! Gotta remember, these musical pioneers are getting up there in years and many have already retired!
2. International Acts - Now I live in what is considered a flyover state. Not many international acts pass through. I'm sure it's a similar situation for the states surrounding and including Tennessee. I would love for Bonnaroo to start leaning into booking bands that don't come to the states often, let alone the midwest/south. I don't want to have to travel to the coasts or out of the country to see bands like Justice, Portishead, Massive Attack, or The Smile. Yes, I'm aware of some upcoming dates, but like I said, Roo has that draw. It could be wishful thinking, but just another thing to consider when filling out the survey!
3. Reunions, Super Groups, and One-offs - Bonnaroo is a huge festival, drawing talent from all over the world! One way they've been able to get so many people to a field in the middle of nowhere in June is unique shows like the Superjams that only happen there! I would like to see more rare acts or reunions as well. Atomic Bomb! in 2015 was a really unique experience, and I'm sure others miss former Bonnaroo staples such as Bluegrass Situation Superjam and Grand Ole Opry. What bands would you like to see reunite? I would KILL for a Them Crooked Vultures reunion, and that would check the box for supergroup as well! Get creative with the survey! You never know what you might inspire!

So I have a theory: by itself, a field in Tennessee holds no magic and is severely lacking in vibez. But curate a truly unique lineup, draw out those deeply passionate about music, and maybe that's what has made Bonnaroo feel special all these years. Anyways, can't wait to see Tame Impala be the most voted on band for the 5th year in a row!
