What do you remember about Mayor Menino? What did you love about him? How did you feel about his era of Boston?

He was a local community man for sure. Educated at BC, Mount Ida, and eventually graduated at UMB in community planning. Grew up in Boston. Lived in Boston. Had family in Boston. Growing up in Boston, it seemed he was involved in making sure local-private-non-profit partnerships worked and had a sense of understanding for the community (as I saw in Chinatown). Menino-era Boston felt like a sense of belonging for us locals. Anyone else felt the same?

What do you remember about him? Everyone needs an Italian in government, right? Anything you want to say about Menino and the era of Boston, please post. Honestly, I think Old Boston died when Menino died in 2014, unfortunately.
