Extremely heavy period

Period is a week late. I have heavy periods in general heavier than others. Today I bled through 5 pairs of pants. The clots are bigger than the pads. (I’m using the thick overnight pads). They are extremely large and thick clots. What to do and what does this mean? I don’t want to call the doctor and they laugh at me and say it’s normal. But like I said I heavy extremely heavy periods but never had one this bad. It’s like postpartum when I gave birth to my son I had bad clots like this.
