My kids complimented the breakfast I made
I don’t cook much from scratch, I love the idea of cooking but the actual act of cooking is not enjoyable to me, and I’m not good at it. I can bake pretty well but that’s about it. My mom never cooked and I never truly learned how to approach cooking creatively and meaningfully.
This makes me feel like a horrible mom so now and then I try to cook something from scratch for the kids. I have one adventurous eater whose favorite food is sushi, and one typically picky kid who will eat PBJs and grilled cheeses every day for life if permitted. They are 6 and 8 respectively.
Today, they are still home for winter break and I have leftover brioche and decided to make French toast. They both like French toast but typically ask for the frozen sticks. I know French toast is not complicated but I tend to ruin the basics as well.
However, the 6 year old gave it 1,000 thumbs up and the 8 year old said it was top notch and better than the restaurant French toast. They actually ate all of it. 🥺
It’s a small thing, but given the state of the world, I need small things right now.
