How to overcome virtual meeting anxiety? HELP.

For context, I'm working for an AU client. They're very chill and kind. I've been with them since 2022 and di talaga sila nagrerequire ng daily calls. Sa buong employment ko, less than 20 calls lang narereceive ko from them in a year. Puro chats and emails lang kami everyday.

We had this annual perf review this month. Okay naman. They gave me a perfect score but they have this comment na they wish to have more catch-ups with me and call them atleast once a week to make me feel na I still belong with the team. Ako na daw bahala maginitiate since mga busy sila.

The problem with me is I HATE CALLS AND VIDEO CALLS. I have a boyfriend of 9 years - and di ko sinasagot tawag nya most of the time because I hate calls. Di ko din alam pano kami nakatagal ng 9 years ng puro chats lang hahaha. Nagkikita naman kami once a week, so there's that.

With my client naman, nastress ako because:

  1. Language barrier: they have thick accent and ang hirap nila maintindihan that's why I prefer written communication as always. Very conscious din ako sa english ko. I prefer written communication din kasi maoorganize ko pa thoughts ko, makakapagisip pa ko and maeedit ko pa.
  2. No common topics between us except work stuff. So ano paguusapan namin? Di ako ganon kagaling sa small talk. Wala din naman problem masyado sa wrok on my end since I can consider myself as expert na in my workload kasi ilang taon ko na to ginagawa. Wala din naman ako makwento sa kanila about sa buhay ko because wala masyado ganap. 24/7 asa bahay lang ako. Lumabas man once a week. Di ganon ka-eventful ang life ko.
  3. Introvert ako. Period.

Help me please. How do you initiate a call with no agenda lined up?

Ngayon pa lang parang sumisikip na dibdib ko and nanlalamig na kamay ko just thinking about it.
