What Percy Jackson means to me [all]

I was born in the 90s and that’s when Greek mythology was everywhere. The first ever movie I saw in theaters was Disney’s Hercules. My sister and I would watch the Hercules TV series, as well as Xena: Warrior Princess. I remember being read stories of Greek mythology to bed when I was a boy. And I spent half my life growing up in NYC.

So you can imagine how excited I got when my mom told me about a new YA book that was about Greek mythology and taking place in NYC. I was even more excited when I learned that the MC (Percy) had a learning disability. And the fact that this book was being told from the perspective of a teenage boy while I was a teenage boy, it felt like this book was made for me.

So my mom got me Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief book as my 15th birthday present in 2005. And ever since then, I’ve been a fan of PJ and his universe.

That’s what Percy Jackson means to me. What about you?
