help! 2 tiny stray kittens ran up to me and wouldn’t stop following me so I took them in and now I feel really bad for the mom
Basically I was helping my mom search for her lost cat and I bent down to check under a bush and all of a sudden heard kittens start crying (they seem to be roughly 5 weeks old) and they literally ran into my lap and immediately started trying to nurse. I know you aren’t supposed to take stray kittens cause the mom is probably just hunting or is somewhere nearby so I tried to put them back but they kept following me. I tried that about 3 times and like on the third time I ran to try to get out of their line of sight but I could hear them still crying so I just stopped to let them catch up because I felt bad and then kept walking. They followed me for a block and a half as I kept searching for my moms cat and I got worried that they wouldn’t stop even if I tried to go back again and maybe they’d get lost if I left them and that’d be just like leaving them to die away from their mom. So I took them home and now I feel like I did the wrong thing.
Has anyone experienced very young kittens relentlessly following them and trying to nurse on them? Is this a sign they’d been abandoned by their mom or something happened to her and I did the right thing, or should I have left them?
