I don’t want to neuter my cats

Hi everyone, I really need advice. I have two male cats, both 10 months old. Recently, may mga female stray cats sa labas ng bahay namin, and naturally, their instincts kicked in—especially for my gray cat. He started peeing everywhere around the house to mark his territory. This behavior has also affected his appetite, and he’s lost around 0.45 kg, which is very concerning.

Because of this, I took them both to the vet. The obvious solution seemed to be neutering, but during their pre-surgery checkup, they tested positive for FCov. The vet explained that FCov is common, but it could potentially mutate into FIP if they experience major stress, like surgery.

I’m honestly at a loss right now. The gray one is the most affected. He even humps the orange cat out of frustration, and the peeing issue has become a major problem for us at home. Keeping them completely away from the stray cats outside is almost impossible because there are so many. I also don’t want to confine him to a dog crate, as it feels like that would be cruel.

The vet said I could still proceed with the neutering, but it’s a risk I’d have to take.

What should I do? Is there any way to minimize the risk of FIP mutation if I go through with the surgery? Also, how can I stop my gray cat from peeing everywhere outside the litter box?

TL;DR: My male cat is peeing all over the house and both of my cats tested positive for FCov. Neutering might trigger FIP. I need advice on the best course of action.

Thank you, and please be kind. 🙏
