How significant are calories absorbed transdermally? What are the localized effects?

I've read a few studies indicating that a small amount of linoleic acid can penetrate the skin barrier. Given this, and considering that fat cells can directly uptake linoleic acid without liver or other bodily processing, could a small amount of calories (energy) be absorbed through the skin? If applied regularly nd constantly. Additionally, if in a calorie surplus, would the fatty acids penetrating the skin be stored locally in adipose cells, or would they circulate in the bloodstream?

As a side note, negative pressure transdermal delivery is believed to weaken the skin barrier. Would this method affect fatty acid storage differently?

Please provide serious responses only. This is a relatively new area of study, and many have dismissed the idea of calorie absorption through the skin in the past. However, this is not entirely accurate, especially considering neonates, whose skin barriers are not fully developed yet.
