Gas compression help

I am just trying to do some research on HHO gas (oxyhydrogen mixture) and it led me down a rabbit hole on combustion related to compression (much like that seen in diesel engines). This made me want to make calculator for this. I am now very confused and it is making me very confused. I just need an easy explanation like I'm a child. I'm primarily stuck on specific heat and units for it.
