Nicest roosters for beginner?

I’ve had bad experiences with roosters when I was a kid with them either attacking me or my mom and then having to get rid of them. So since those 3 we’ve never had roosters. But I’d like to get a rooster for our flock. Google says Orpington’s are super sweet but they seem intimidating in terms of size. My Orpington hens are a lot for me when I need to catch them and hold them so I think a rooster would be even worse. Would a smaller rooster like a silkie get along fine in a flock with Orpington’s, Marans, bielefelders, and some other random medium sized breeds? Or would it be better to get an autosexing breed so I could interact with him as a baby?
