Chrome app on Android not responding to trackpad 2-finger scrolling. Help?

Device: Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, using official keyboard/trackpad case

This problem doesn't happen in any other app. YouTube, Discord, other browsers, all work fine. I feel safe concluding it is not a hardware issue.

This issue started yesterday. Force-quitting Chrome doesn't fix the issue, disconnecting and reconnecting my keyboard doesn't fix the issue, and restarting my tablet fixed the issue once (for a day) but hasn't fixed it a second time.

EDIT: just tested mouse scrolling. Mouse scrolling works on Chrome still, but not trackpad.

EDIT 2: discovered that for a few seconds after opening chrome, scrolling works, then it stops. Also, zooming in and out with the trackpad works.

EDIT 3: using keyboard share to transmit inputs from my tablet's keyboard to my phone, I found that I could scroll in Chrome on my phone just fine. I am even more baffled.

EDIT 4: best workaround I've found: use your second and fourth finger to scroll. for whatever reason, this bug only happens if your fingers are close together. Haven't found a user-side way to *fix* the bug but this at least makes it usable.

Anyone else experienced this issue, and know a way to resolve it?
