What are your favorite classics made in your country?

Usually, we come to this sub to discuss and celebrate American movies, which is only natural. But since many of us are not from the States (I assume), why not take a moment to celebrate our own culture and share it with other users?

Me, I'm from Spain, and this is my list:

  1. The Executioner (Luis García Berlanga, 1963)
  2. Radio Stories (José Luis Sáenz de Heredia, 1955)
  3. El Pisito (Marco Ferrari, 1959).

All of these three are Spanish productions, but if you want, you can include foreign films that were filmed in your country (totally or partially). I, for instance, could have added Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago or 55 Days at Peking.

Of course, folks from the States are welcome to take part in the conversation as well.
