Are my Scarpa Vapor V too small?

My street shoe wear is size 42. I've been bouldering in rented shoes in the gym size 41, but in the last couple sessions I was ready to try out size 40.5.

Then I got a great deal on almost new pair (only used few times) Scarpa Vapor V for 60€.

It is my first intermediate shoe and I am not sure if the size is correct. I can get them on if I jam my foot totally in there and then get the heel in.

They feel very tight and especially on the tip of my big toe. Walking in them is horrible. I tried to climb and had to get them off after every route. The big toe hurts the most even when climbing and stepping on holds. Heel fits great and pressure on achilles tendon is not too much.

There's also a difference between my left and right foot. On the left I also feel pressure on my pinky so I have to wiggle the shoe a bit to find a good spot.

But as I said the main problem is the pressure on the tip of my big toes. I've climbed for two hours and did about 6 boulder problems with and about 5 attempts on all of them.

Now after climbing my big toes hurt if I press down on my nails.

Will these break in or should I resell them?
