First time dog buyer

My boyfriend and I are on the search for our first dog together. We have been looking at cocker spaniels and they are adorable. Could any owners give me a rundown of what to expect? I would love a dog who likes to go on walks, does this breed do well on walks? Would this be a good first time dog for us? I’ve had dogs growing up but my bf has not.

We are searching still but the other breeds we are looking at are, King Charles spaniels & Cavachons. Thank you!!!
