My thoughts on the Mumbai Concert
Hello there everyone, having attended the Mumbai Concert yesterday on the 21st i realised that most of the stuff that people were criticising was in fact not even true at all. But except this i would also like to share a few things i came across over the course of the concert.
People shamed Jasleen Royal a lot for her performances and many people seemingly called her “high” and singing offtune, however yesterday she her performance was actually very good and she sounded perfectly fine to me and even my friends around. The crowd was extremely good and singing along like crazy on all her songs and no one around me seemed to be not enjoying it. In fact when she was back on stage later on with Elyanne and Shone people cheered her back on when she appeared on the screen.
I don’t get the concept of going up on someone’s shoulder when you’re pretty ahead anyways and citing a reason that “ I’m too short to see anything”. This is exactly what i faced with one girl near by, this girl kept on going up on her partners shoulder and received thousands of abuses from around and was made to go down every single time (props to the crowd for that)
By now it’s obvious that the “dull crowd “ narrative was a facade. The crowd yesterday was simply mind blowing- i can’t even describe the energy the crowd had yesterday. People were singing out the songs with their entire voices jumping and dancing about everywhere full of energy. And the proudest moment would be that we as a crowd managed to get coldplay to play Yellow again, that “once more” chant was one hell of a moment of crowd unity. Salty people claiming no one knew lyrics is absolute bs, people were singing like crazy and the energy was absolutely mad.
Going into the concert i expected a slightly rough crowd with lots of pushing because Ive had similar experience in others concerts, but damn was I so wrong. The crowd around me was so respectful, everyone had their own nice good enough personal space with no sort of “weird” stuff happening. No pushing shoving at all - it was calm and everyone was vibing together hooting and enjoying the show. Few wholesome moments were when my side of the crowd witnessed a proposal during yellow and everyone cheered on the couple, also during the starting someone had lost their friend, so everyone screamed her name aloud and we eventually found her and people actually let her come ahead instead of pushing her back stating reasons like “even we want a good view”.
One thing I don’t understand is why do the F&B stands shut at 930?, my friends and I were famished after the concert and went to the stalls only to remember they shut at 930. Shouldn’t they be open till atleast some time after the concert ends so that people who haven’t been able to get food can atleast get some basic amount of food?
One of the best things done in the organisation were those medical aid gaps made between crowd lines, honestly that’s an extremely great thing to be done and should be implemented in all concerts here in India - in Diljits mumbai show I saw 2 girls fainting and they had to walk from the gold section all the way till the back where the medic centre was.
Handling of the exits was so damn good i was impressed- there were guides everywhere to help out people, traffic jams were being freed up very efficiently- it was simply beautiful.
And now lastly, the concert was simply magical, I’m honestly at a loss of words to even describe how it even felt, and when it ended i just wanted to do it all over again.
