Mouse / keyboard

Hi. I am wonderning about mouses and keyboard.

I don’t know if I have to choose wireless or wired devices. Which is better and why ? I tend to want to go wireless because it's more convenient but what about performance?

and if it's wireless, what do you recommend between battery operated (I mean with disposable AAA batteries) or rechargeable with a battery.
