Mark Zuckerberg's Meta to pay President Trump $25,000,000 to resolve a lawsuit after the company suspended Trump's accounts.
The Washington Post - Meta settled a lingering 2021 lawsuit brought by President Donald Trump who alleged that the tech giant improperly suspended his social media accounts after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, court records show.
Meta agreed to pay $25 million to resolve the legal dispute, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss nonpublic terms of the deal.
Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg told investors during an earnings call Wednesday that Trump’s recent election gave the company a new opportunity to rewrite its fraught relationship with the American government.
“We now have a U.S. administration that is proud of our leading companies, prioritizes American technology winning,” he said. “And I am optimistic about the progress and innovation that this can unlock.”
