Do not spam the self-unhook animation if you want to be saved

I'm not sure when this mechanic was added but it keeps happening to me in games when I try to save someone. If you are on the hook and spamming the self unhook button, other survivors cannot pull you off the hook. I get that it makes a goofy animation, but on several occasions in emergency situations like in endgame collapse or the survivor is about to hit second stage, I’ve tried to save them only to have them spamming the button and not letting me unhook them. Then either I get killed for standing there an extra few seconds trying to unhook or have to leave and let them get to second stage.
