I’ve seen people react to Ian Flynn’s response to Trunks vs Silver and this was my actual reaction

Personal story time:

I’ve been into Death Battle since about 8th Grade with my first fight being Shao Kahn vs M. Bison. I’ve seen that pop up here and there and decided one school night; “eh, why not?” I clicked on the video, loved the fight (I was an MK fan and so I loved it) and then binged Death Battle since. I still remember my very first matchup idea. Liu Kang vs Chie Satonaka. For the sole purpose of two karate characters duking it out with loud sounds. Would it be fair? Honestly, MK1 may tip things in Liu’s favor if Death Battle did it now.

Back to the topic, at one point, I’ve seen many DC characters defeat non-marvel characters and have decided my career. What I wanted to do after High School. Make my own story. It was gonna be a story of a chosen scrawny guy who goes on a vengeance quest against the devil in disguise as Donald Trump because he was chosen by God to kill the devil. And this was first term trump. Not the trump of today. And yes, that story is scrapped right now. I attempted to have some JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3 style of an adventure with strategies and powers from Fairy Tail. Anything Death Battle made a video of, my character, which is basically just a writer’s insert, would defeat in a fight. One I remember most was during Strange vs Fate. I was gonna take on reality shifters. My first fight had my character burn a black hole by burning a surface like Gildarts did to Bluenote from Fairy Tail. As time went on, however, I realized the character was nothing more than a Mary Sue and made the story very boring. I had other characters based off my friends but that didn’t make things different. Plus IIRC, I don’t think they had as much fights as I did. But the biggest thing that woke me up and made more scrap my project was Wally West vs Archie Sonic. Starting off, I thought Sonic would win, he’s got reality warping at his fingertips. Wally wins. Dammit. Too predictable. I thought a non-marvel character was due for a win. Regardless, my story was meant to be the first one to defeat a DC character (and then Jinx and SpongeBob beat me but shh!). Then the YouTube algorithm kicked in. I saw this documentary of Archie Sonic’s writer, Ken Penders, and it told me everything that happened. The whole lawsuit and the judgement that Sonic was not allowed to lose. That woke me up. That expanded my mind. A court order to have your character not lose a fight? That sounds boring. If this was gonna be my path, then forget it! I’ll make a new story one with sincere flaws and an actual story! Plus, the political bit about Donald Trump being a devil was NOT gonna have anybody take this seriously. Even now and would probably land me in the same hot water as Kathy Griffin during her Trump photo shoot fiasco. Probably.

Since then, I’ve continued my dream of being a writer just to have my characters be on Death Battle. I want to win, yes, but I’ll do it with sincerity and development. I’m not gonna annoy the team into bringing my characters in, of course. I know what happened with Hello Neighbor. Game Theorist, Matpat, was harassed nonstop by the developer. I ain’t gonna do that.

TLDR; I’m a creator that is a fan of Death Battle and have been inspired by them for my writing. If my characters pop up here, I’d be very happy and fulfilled
