[DAV SPOILERS ALL] The conflict and resolution of Taash and Emmrich feels unnatural, infantile and hypocritical.
The scene in question should you need a refresher
The entire ordeal, I was cringing. This felt like how a conversation from a children show and/or written by somebody who never had to apologise to another human being.
There are a few things to unpack here, but here's what really irked me,
> Taash is being very infantile here, this feels like a tantrum rather than a genuine grievance, this all started simply because Emmrich won't give you his expensive equipment for you to borrow? Now, I understand that Taash was written to be an immature young adult, but really? That felt more like narcissism rather than immaturity.
> The hypocrisy here is really on your face, "You ARE a Death mage". Taash, how would you feel if somebody says to your face, "You ARE a woman." I wish there was an option to call Taash out on that.
> The necromancy argument was...aight..but it felt...lackluster I guess is the word I'd use. I mean, I can see what Taash is saying, but still.
> The resolution, it felt awful."Here, you can talk about these things instead and be nice to each other." These are the thing I would be saying to my autistic children under my care, not grown adults. Hell, even autistic adults don't need to be talked down like this, they ain't stupid.
> Taash's apologies felt disingenuous, I guess the tone of the apology itself felt..bad, the line, could be better but serviceable imo.
This whole thing would be better if it was a background conversation similar to how DAI did it with Dorian and Iron Bull sort out their difference and eventually found common ground and formed a relationship.
Sera was obnoxious and immature as well, but at least she's self aware, you can call her out, and genuinely apologies and in fact, become a better person, least that how I remembered her (I haven't touched DAI for years now, do let me know if I'm wrong, but I do remember that she did grow on me).
Goes without saying, if you enjoy the game, good. I didn't because how much the continuity and lore got whacked but it is what it is.
