Dropshipping and Re-Packaging

Beginner here - does anyone have their dropshipped items packaged up in their own unique brand? Or am I completely mistaken here with what dropshipping can be.

We want to use dropshipping initially to test product ideas before buying them wholesale - is that when we consider doing our own packaging?
