Why Some Accounts Make $20k/Month Dropshipping on eBay and Others Don't
At this point, I have probably witnessed over 200 ebay accounts that have started from 0 and gotten to 4k-20k in sales. The question is, why is there such a great spread?
Let me explain the environment for this observation briefly. You list 10k random items from amazon onto ebay, and things start to sell. Why do some accounts get to 4k in revenue and some accounts get to 20k in revenue after the completion of the 10k items listed?
The number one observation that was made was, for the accounts that get to 20k in revenue, they all start off guns blazing. That means within the first 100 items that were listed, some items were popping off. This caused a snowball effect, where the next item that was listed was appearing higher in search, and this caused the next item to have that much higher chance of selling. At the end of the 10k items that were listed, those accounts that rode the initial momentum got to 10-20k in revenue.
So let's quantify it, and assign a ranking. The ranking determines how high your item appears in search, resulting in more visibility, which translates to sales.
Let's say that the first 100 items you sell, eBay gives a score of 50/100. If some of those items sold, then your rank for your next item starts off at 70/100. This goes ahead and gives your next batch of 100 items that much more chances to sell, as it’s higher in search.
Now the reverse is true. If your 100 items don’t sell, your next batch of 100 items listed is going to have a rank of 40/100, and this continues.
So ultimately, on eBay, sales bring sales.
So make sure your first 100 items sell when you start dropshipping on ebay. The easiest way to do this is to start auction listings, and the account will ride the momentum from those auctions. The second best way that I like to do, is deep product research using the sniping method. The sniping method, is find in demand items on ebay, and under cut them.
