Getting back into dubstep after years, looking for a specific sound

This is probably a dumb question, I have been uninvolved with most EDM and Dubstep stuff for several years, but bear with me. I got into Skrillex in like 2010, songs like Scary Monsters and Scatta were insanely heavy, coming from a metal background, I was really excited to hear music like this and I thought people would keep taking it into a heavier direction, but after that Skrillex EP it basically just… stopped? There was Bonfire by Knife Party but after that I never heard any really heavy/brutal drops like that, I kinda lost interest in Brostep and EDM in general after that.

Fast forward to now, I’m thinking “man they must be making some absolutely insane sounds these days” and so I go look up the heaviest drops on YouTube/spotify playlists etc and everything still just sounds so weak compared to those early Skrillex tracks, nothing even comes close to how heavy they were, especially Scatta.

My question is, why did dubstep producers shy away from that sound so quickly? And is there anyone still making songs that are heavy/heavier than those 3 songs I mentioned?
