Got Pioglitazone, any recommendations?

Got a pretty large supply of Pio, wondering what dosage I should start with. The pills are 45mg so I'd need to cut them in half if I was to reduce the dosage. Should I take with or without food?

I was thinking 22.5mg maybe, just not sure how evenly distributed it is throughout the pill.
