women not allowed to marry non-muslim but men are??

so my family and i went to my dad’s friends house where the friend had his indian muslim parents home (they were on holiday and were only visiting for a short time so my family decided to visit them). whilst we were waiting for dinner, the parents were sitting and chatting with my family in the living room. they were talking about their family back home in india and i was casually paying attention but then they started talking about how one of their friends’ daughter got married to a non-muslim and how they were so disappointed with her. that made me sit up in shock (i’m closeted).

then they started going on about how so many young muslim women in india are marrying more and more non-muslims and the fact that it’s disgusting that they’re choosing love over islam. omg it made me so fucking mad. i wanted to roll my eyes so hard it hurt especially when my parents were agreeing and my older brother beside me was making annoyed sounds like tutting (i swear he’s more religious than my parents. when i told my parents i didn’t want to wear my hijab when i started university (i wore it my whole life even tho i hated it), he got MAD and even lectured my parents, who were thankfully kinda supportive and told him i’ll wear it when i’m older (i won’t)).

but yeah, it’s SO dumb how these poor women in this horrible religion can’t even marry someone they love all because it’s hArAm but men are allowed to for some fucking reason??? i hate this sexist religion more and more every day especially since i found this amazing subreddit 🥰

i can’t with this cult. this is the first time i’m admitting i’m not a muslim anymore and it’s honestly so freeing. i haven’t told anyone in my life yet but i’m waiting for my university course to finish and then i’m gone. i’m running away. i can’t wait to finally be free. but yeah that’s all, thank you for reading this rant 🫶🏼🤎
