I wish there were more Muslims who had liberal interpretations of the Quran.

For example, the Quran explicitly stated that both Muslim men and Muslim women cannot marry polytheists or disbelievers. The Quran also explicitly mentioned that Muslim men can marry women of the book. But the Quran didn't explicitly forbid Muslim women from marrying men of the book. Because it's not directly mentioned, many scholars forbid Muslim women from marrying Jews or Christians due to their misogynistic views. Few liberal imams say that there is no point in prohibiting Muslim women from marrying Jews or Christians if the Quran doesn't say anything about it.
