Is this her or the illness?

Sorry in advance for the long post, I know my relationship has ended but I guess I’m just looking for some kinship to give me a sense of “why.” Has anyone else experienced something similar?

My partner of 3 years was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 in 2024 after a hospitalization in February, July, and December. She was diagnosed in July and experienced psychosis then and in December. She discarded me during every hospital stay but returned until this one.

Since leaving the hospital December 19th, she has moved home to her grandparents in a small town she ran from as a young adult, reconciled with her abusive mother, ended our relationship, and contacted the person she discarded me for. A boy she dated VERY briefly in her teens.

Since then she has gone through bouts of saying she’ll come back, then not and providing me mixed signals on our future. She also gets mean when I set boundaries or don’t feed into the hope of her returning. Most recently, she said she felt like something was always off and didn’t feel right with us. Our relationship was amazing, and I supported her through a lot of things. We had plans on getting married. Up until this year, we only ever had issues when it came to things I now realize were mania induced. Such as quitting jobs, trying to breakup seemingly out of nowhere, etc.

She seems completely stable to her family but not to me or mine, the people who have known her the last 4 years. She is not close to her family at all and that’s why the move shocked me. She’s keeping a schedule, and says she’s healing and praying more (she became more religious during her July stay) and seems completely fine over the breakup. Happy even.

I guess my question is, is this truly her or is she still struggling? It seems like she’s completely rewriting history.

ETA: She claims her life stresses her out, but I encouraged her to make changes, I made changes as well, in order to create a less stressful environment and she didn’t want to do this until moving away. She also fell into a depression right before her most recent hospitalization and seemingly didn’t want help.

ETA: The week after returning home she was still having delusions so I’m also worried the medicine isn’t right? Her hospital visit was awful. They sent her home manic and said she was rapid cycling during her stay.
