[question] are 10oz boxing gloves good?

I really love my new boxing gloves for Christmas but they are 10oz because my mum said to start off smaller but people say u cant use them for bagwork or sparring and i love these gloves and see nothing wrong but people say 10oz isn’t good? Do I need to maybe save up for a spare pare thats 16oz or am I fine? Thanks
